Friday night race in Ridge

The Ridge Meadows WNS on the August 7-8 weekend will be holding a triple points district race on that Friday the 6th at a cost of $15. It will also include another round of the 30+ Dino Dash.

SuperCamp in Alberta

ABA Supercamp coming to Alberta For the first time in many years ABA (American Bicycle Association) SuperCamp is coming back to Southern Alberta. This camp was organized last week on very short notice by Calgary and Okotoks BMX. On July 24-25 some of the best riders from the US will be at Calgary BMX. Bubba Harris, Lee Lewis, Deak Brown, and Thomas Vallejo will offer their outstanding instruction in a two day camp. Cost is $100 for the weekend or $60 single day. All riders all skill levels welcome. 10am to 3pm each day.

Red Deer UCI/WNS 5 and 6

Red Deer BMX is looking for one or two families with fairly mobile units to camp out at the track for the CBA #5 & #6 races in Red Deer, which would be Friday July 9 and Saturday July 10. Please Contact Glen Pratt email if interested

Abbotsford Spring Training Camp to support the SX track project

“As of March 16th, the Abbotsford BMX track has secured over 60% of the required funds for project completion; generous donations have been made in the form of cash and sponsorship in kind. We are currently seeking the remaining $95,000 by April 10th in order to complete the project in time for the track’s first international event”. All funds from the training camp go towards the project.

In 2010 the year-end award bonus for the top 3 Elite female 20" class will be on par with their male counterparts

NCCP BMX Coaching Program registration

Those interested in becoming NCCP Certified BMX Coaches can now register for the BMX Skills and Tactics coaching course, to held in Abbotsford on January 31. Registration is open until January 29.
Also, those interested in the BMX coaching stream who have not yet taken the other two courses needed for Introduction to Competition Certification can also register for the first of those courses, Introduction to Competition Part A "Training Basics". Part B, "Training To Race" will be open for registration shortly.

2009 CBA AGM

During the 2009 series finals at Ridge this year we held the CBA annual general meeting. News of note follows:

2009 Western National Series Finals

The series came to an exciting finish at the Ridge Meadows track. Despite rainy weather all weekend the track held up great and all racing was completed on time. The final results are now posted on the POINTS page.
There were 6 errors during the awards presentation. In an effort to get the awards out and everyone on their way home as quick as possible we didn't thoroughly review the results sheets before presentations. Of the 6 errors, 4 were tie-break issues and 2 were due to an issue with a seven person main where 2 are dropped from a nine rider class. We apologize for the errors and wish there could have been none as there are always hurt feelings when awards are involved. The classes with the errors have been corrected and are posted. There were 84 classes involving 510 riders this year and with only 6 errors we feel we did pretty good. Of course we will strive for zero errors next year and again we apologize to those riders affected.

2009 Western National Series points

The series points have been corrected to properly reflect the points table used when classes are merged. As per the 2009 rule change, when classes are merged the points table used is the one for the riders actual series class not the class they were racing in that day. The last series weekend before the finals was held this weekend in Stony Plain. The weather co-operated the the crew put on a great weekend. See the Points and Results page for the results and standings to date. Next stop will be in Ridge Meadows, BC for race 9 and the double point final in September. There should be a lot of finishes that come down to the last day. It's going to be exciting!

Those juniors and elites attending the UCI race in Airdrie must register at the event. You cannot pre-register online. The online registration is for the Western National Series races only.

2008 Champions jackets

For those that earned a jacket in the 2008 WNS Series you will be able to pick it up at the first National of 2009 in Abbotsford. If you are not in attendance they will be brought back to your home province and distributed by your provincial reps.
