NCCP BMX Coaching Program registration

Those interested in becoming NCCP Certified BMX Coaches can now register for the BMX Skills and Tactics coaching course, to held in Abbotsford on January 31. Registration is open until January 29.
Also, those interested in the BMX coaching stream who have not yet taken the other two courses needed for Introduction to Competition Certification can also register for the first of those courses, Introduction to Competition Part A "Training Basics". Part B, "Training To Race" will be open for registration shortly.

2010 Rule Changes

Some changes to the points and transfer system for 2010:

• UCI transfer rules for numbers advancing through rounds (example: 9 riders make a 7 man main) but using mixed motos. This was done manually in the past but the BEM program has been updated to accommodate this
• For classes with more than 8 riders (i.e. classes that have mains, semis, quarters, etc.) lane choice will now be awarded based on your moto and previous qualifier finishes. Tie break is based on count-back starting from last moto. Qualifiers and mains with lane choice have the moto sheets printed in order of choice and riders choose their lanes in staging. For all classes with total points only (i.e. 8 riders or less) there are no changes.
• When moving from Challenge class to Junior or Junior to Elite during the season you now carry your series points forward. In the past your points were reset at zero. The points table will be adjusted so there is now separation between Junior and Elite points
• For Series points Novice girls will now use the Intermediate points table. This reduces the points gap for girls moving up in class during the year.

During the 2009 series finals at Ridge this year we held the CBA annual general meeting. News of note follows:

2009 Western National Series Finals

The series came to an exciting finish at the Ridge Meadows track. Despite rainy weather all weekend the track held up great and all racing was completed on time. The final results are now posted on the POINTS page.
There were 6 errors during the awards presentation. In an effort to get the awards out and everyone on their way home as quick as possible we didn't thoroughly review the results sheets before presentations. Of the 6 errors, 4 were tie-break issues and 2 were due to an issue with a seven person main where 2 are dropped from a nine rider class. We apologize for the errors and wish there could have been none as there are always hurt feelings when awards are involved. The classes with the errors have been corrected and are posted. The affected classes were

• 11 Expert Female (tie break issue)
• 7 Novice Male (tie break issue)
• 11 Expert Male (7 rider main issue)
• 12 Expert Male (7 rider main issue)
• 17-24 Expert Male (tie break issue)
• 30+ Expert Male (tie break issue)

There were 84 classes involving 510 riders this year and with only 6 errors we feel we did pretty good. Of course we will strive for zero errors next year and again we apologize to those riders affected.

2009 Western National Series Finals

• Friday night race includes T-Shirt
• Online registration is now available here until midnight MST Sep 2
• Awards banquet to follow 1 or 2 hours after the completion of Sundays race
• Monday reserved as a make-up day in case of rain outs

2009 Western National Series points

The series points have been corrected to properly reflect the points table used when classes are merged. As per the 2009 rule change, when classes are merged the points table used is the one for the riders actual series class not the class they were racing in that day. 2009 Western National Series races 7 and 8 results

The last series weekend before the finals was held this weekend in Stony Plain. The weather co-operated the the crew put on a great weekend. See the Points and Results page for the results and standings to date. Next stop will be in Ridge Meadows, BC for race 9 and the double point final in September. There should be a lot of finishes that come down to the last day. It's going to be exciting!

2010 CBA Western National Bids

Anyone wanting to host a Western National in 2010 can submit their bid here . The bids must be in by August 21st. Voting will take place at the AGM in Ridge Meadows following Saturday's race on September 5th.  The official bid package is here

Those juniors and elites attending the UCI race in Airdrie must register at the event. You cannot pre-register online. The online registration is for the Western National Series races only.

2009 WNS Date change

2008 Champions jackets

For those that earned a jacket in the 2008 WNS Series you will be able to pick it up at the first National of 2009 in Abbotsford. If you are not in attendance they will be brought back to your home province and distributed by your provincial reps.

2009 Season First Aid officials

The ABA and CBA are seeking 3-4 talented individuals that would be interested in becoming BMX First Aid Officials for the National and Provincial BMX series.
